An interstate in Georgia was shut down for 10 hours on Monday after a motorist attempted to pass another vehicle stopped in traffic.

The accident happened on August 29th in Dekalb County on Interstate 285 at Ashford Dunwoody Road.

According to WSB-TV Atlanta, one motorist tried to go around another vehicle stopped in traffic, causing a crash with three vehicles. A semi truck hauling beer then hit one of the vehicles already pressed up against a median barrier, and flipped another car onto its side. The tractor trailer then caught fire underneath the Ashford Dunwoody Road overpass.

Three people were hurt in the accident. They sustained minor injuries. The truck fire shut down all lanes of I-285 in both directions at Ashford Dunwoody Road, causing major delays and damage to the road.

Engineers had to wait for the bridge to cool down before they could inspect it for damages. Once inspected, it was deemed safe for travel. However, the pavement around the crashed truck was so severely damaged that officials say it will need to be repaved. Delays in the area lasted around 14 hours, but the roadway has since been reopened.
