The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) has announced dates for several truck inspection campaigns set to take place in 2021.
It’s early in 2021, but the CVSA is already looking ahead to several scheduled enforcement efforts.
Here are some of the dates you should know:
- International Roadcheck is scheduled for May 4 — 6, 2021. International Roadcheck is an annual three-day event when CVSA-certified inspectors conduct compliance, enforcement and educational initiatives targeted at various elements of motor carrier, vehicle and driver safety. International Roadcheck is the largest targeted enforcement program on commercial motor vehicles in the world, with nearly 15 trucks or buses inspected, on average, every minute across North America during a 72-hour period.
- Operation Safe Driver Week is scheduled for July 11 — 17, 2021. During Operation Safe Driver Week, law enforcement agencies across North America engage in heightened traffic safety enforcement and education aimed at combating unsafe driving behaviors by both commercial motor vehicle and passenger-vehicle drivers. Activities are held across the United States, Canada and Mexico with the goal of increasing commercial vehicle and non-commercial vehicle traffic enforcement, safety belt enforcement, driver roadside inspections and driver regulatory compliance.
- Brake Safety Week is scheduled for Aug. 22 — 28, 2021. During brake safety enforcement campaign, CMV inspectors will conduct brake system inspections (primarily Level IV Inspections) on large trucks and buses throughout North America to identify out-of-adjustment brakes and brake-system violations. The week is an annual outreach and enforcement campaign designed to improve commercial vehicle brake safety throughout North America.
- An unannounced one-day brake safety enforcement initiative could happen at any time during 2021. During this one day effort, CMV inspectors will conduct brake system inspections (primarily Level IV Inspections) on large trucks and buses throughout North America to identify out-of-adjustment brakes and brake-system violations.
