An interstate in Colorado was partially shut down on Monday afternoon after an I-76 bridge strike from a semi truck hauling construction equipment.

The accident happened on Monday, March 18th in the westbound lanes of Interstate 76 at Dahlia Street north of Commerce City, Colorado.

According to CBS Denver, the tractor trailer passed under the Dahlia Street bridge, which caused its load to strike part of the structure. At least one piece of equipment fell off of the trailer and became wedged between the stopped rig and the concrete barrier just after the overpass.

The interstate was completely shut down just before 3 p.m. as crews worked to determine the amount of damage done to the bridge. The interstate was partially reopened on Monday evening, but the Colorado Department of Transportation advised that drivers should expect delays “during peak morning and afternoon travel times,” as evaluation of the bridge continued.
