Truck driver hides behind dumpster after DUI crash with Jeep at Oregon intersection.

A truck driver was arrested on Sunday, April 7th, after crashing into a Jeep at an intersection in Eugene, Oregon just before 5 p.m.

According to KEZI 9, 66-year-old truck driver Roger Lavern Dale failed to yield at a four-way-stop intersection at Crescent Avenue and Coburg Road. Dale then crashed into a Jeep Wrangler passing through the intersection.

Dale stopped his rig, got out of the cab, and reportedly appeared intoxicated as he fled the scene on foot. Eugene police responded to the scene and used K9 officer Ayk to find Dale hiding behind a dumpster in the 2800 block of Crescent Avenue. Dale was immediately arrested and transported to the Lane County Jail.

During an investigation of the incident, police discovered damage to a fence, a tree, and some masonry work in the 3300 block of Arlington Lane, which was also attributed to Dale. The Jeep driver was not hurt in the incident.

Dale is facing charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants, reckless driving, and hit and run resulting in property damage.
