Truck driver involved in fatal I-44 crash now in ICE custody

A truck driver involved in a fatal crash on Interstate 44 near Sullivan, Missouri, last year is now in federal custody, authorities confirmed.
The crash occurred on March 27, 2024, when Manpreet Singh, the driver of a tractor-trailer, crossed a cable barrier and entered the eastbound lanes, colliding head-on with an SUV.
The SUV driver, 59-year-old Edith McKee, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A Franklin County grand jury indicted Singh in November 2024 on one count of first-degree involuntary manslaughter. A warrant for his arrest was issued that same month.
Singh was arrested in Douglas County, Missouri, in December 2024 but was later released on bond after surrendering his passport to his attorney in January 2025 with court approval.
As of March 4, 2025, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has taken Singh into custody. His exact location has not been disclosed.
Singh, whose listed address is in Elmont, New York, is scheduled for a case review in Franklin County Circuit Court on May 20, 2025.
