WESTPORT, Conn. — A crash involving a tractor-trailer and a pickup truck on I-95 South near Exit 18 in Westport resulted in severe vehicle damage and minor injuries Thursday afternoon, according to Connecticut State Police.

The collision occurred around 1:07 p.m., sending both vehicles off the road and into an embankment. The pickup truck sustained heavy damage and was partially trapped in the crash site.

Firefighters from Westport and Fairfield Fire Departments responded swiftly, working together to safely remove all occupants from both vehicles. No serious injuries were reported.

The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) was notified due to fluid spillage in the area.

The scene was cleared by 1:49 p.m., though cleanup efforts remain active. The Connecticut State Police continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
