ROSMAN, N.C. — A high-speed chase involving a semi truck and trailer that began in Brevard ended in a dramatic crash Friday morning when the truck veered off the road and into the front yard of a mobile home near Rosman High School.

The semi, reportedly registered to Silkroad Tranz Inc. of Bensalem, Pennsylvania, struck vehicles belonging to both the N.C. State Highway Patrol and the Transylvania County Sheriff’s Office during the pursuit. The chase came to an end on N.C. 178 when the truck's front axle broke after a collision with a patrol car, causing the driver to lose control.

Authorities arrested the driver, identified as Andrew Heath Gamble Sr., at the scene. He faces multiple serious charges, including:

  • Felonious assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflict serious injury on an emergency worker

  • Driving while impaired

  • Reckless driving with wanton disregard for the rights or safety of others

The incident began around 9 a.m. when witnesses spotted the semi traveling at high speeds through downtown Brevard, heading southbound on Broad Street while being pursued by state troopers. The truck then traveled down Country Club Road, Island Ford Road, and eventually turned east onto Rosman Highway.

Near the Harmony Korner gas station, the semi struck a State Highway Patrol vehicle before turning onto Pickens Highway. A short distance later, it collided with a Transylvania County deputy’s patrol car, breaking the truck's front axle and causing the crash into a nearby yard at 544 Pickens Highway.

No buildings were struck, and the trailer attached to the semi appeared to be loaded. At this time, it is unclear whether any injuries resulted from the multiple collisions.

The T. Times has reached out to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol for further information. This remains an ongoing investigation, and updates will be provided as more details emerge.
