COLTON, Calif. — The first of many planned electric semi truck stops along Interstate 5 has officially been switched on in California.

On April 24, the flagship EV truck stop opened in Colton, serving as the first key stop along a planned 280-mile electric commercial vehicle (CMV) charging corridor between Los Angeles and Las Vegas.

According to Electrek, the site features 12 pull-through charging stations for electric semi trucks and 29 chargers for bobtail trucks. In addition to charging capabilities, the truck stop offers a full suite of amenities, including a driver lounge with food and drinks, water refill stations, restrooms, free WiFi, cell phone charging stations, and 24/7 customer support.

The facility also boasts station attendants on duty 24/7, security cameras, gated access, bright safety lighting, overnight parking, and even office space available for lease.

The project is led by Greenlane, a company spearheading the development of the I-5 electric corridor. Future charging stops are already planned approximately every 50 to 60 miles, with upcoming sites in Long Beach, Barstow, and Baker, California.

The new charging station marks a major step forward in building infrastructure to support the growing number of electric semi trucks on American highways.
