Two Rescued After Car Becomes Trapped Under Semi-Truck on I-71 in Cincinnati

CINCINNATI — Two people were rescued Tuesday afternoon after a serious crash left a car wedged underneath a semi-truck on Interstate 71, causing major delays near downtown.
The crash happened around 4 p.m. near the 5th Street entrance ramp on I-71 Northbound, according to officials. Photos from the scene show the car lodged completely under the trailer of the semi.
Emergency crews with the Cincinnati Fire Department responded quickly to rescue both occupants. Officials said both patients were transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.
According to WLWT, traffic cameras showed northbound I-71 at a near standstill as crews worked to clear the scene. The highway fully reopened around 7 p.m. Tuesday night.
The exact cause of the collision remains under investigation.
