Freight Train Collides With Tractor-Trailer in Allentown; No Injuries Reported

A freight train collided with a tractor-trailer Tuesday morning, July 22, 2025, in Allentown, at the intersection of South 12th and Vultee streets.
The incident occurred around 11:20 a.m., according to Kasandra Ortiz, Communications Manager for Norfolk Southern. Thankfully, no injuries were reported among either the train crew or truck driver, confirmed by both Norfolk Southern and the Allentown Fire Department.
Photos from the scene show significant damage to the trailer, with the rear end torn off and positioned between two boxcars.
Emergency crews arriving at the crash scene quickly assessed the situation and determined there were no hazardous materials involved.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation by local authorities and Norfolk Southern officials.
According to Lehigh Valley Live, officials temporarily halted rail traffic in both directions to facilitate cleanup and investigation efforts.
