Tractor-Trailer Crash Causes Major Backups on I-81 Near Harrisonburg

ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va. — A tractor-trailer crash on Interstate 81 Northbound near mile marker 248, just outside the Harrisonburg city limits, caused significant traffic backups on Wednesday, October 1st.
The crash occurred at 11:42 a.m., prompting a response from Virginia State Police, who are currently investigating. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident.
According to VDOT, as of 1:48 p.m., the right lane and shoulder remained closed, and backups extended approximately three miles, with slow-moving traffic as far back as mile marker 246.2.
Live VDOT traffic camera feeds showed a heavy traffic buildup as authorities worked to clear the scene.
