Thousands of Pounds of Cake Mix Spill Shuts Down Part of I-79 in West Virginia

LOST CREEK, W.Va. — A tractor-trailer loaded with thousands of pounds of cake mix overturned on Interstate 79 North near Lost Creek in Harrison County around 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 2nd.
The crash occurred just before the Lost Creek exit near mile marker 109, causing a significant traffic backup that persisted as of 12:30 p.m. Emergency officials confirmed that the driver was able to exit the vehicle safely, and no injuries have been reported.
Clean-up efforts are ongoing, with no official estimate yet on how long the road will remain impacted. Due to the sheer quantity of spilled material and the nature of the cargo, clearing the site may take time.
