Teen’s Reckless Driving Lodges BMW Under Amazon Semi on I-75 in Tampa

TAMPA, Fla. — A dramatic crash Tuesday evening on Interstate 75 saw a BMW sedan become lodged under an Amazon tractor-trailer after a teenage driver reportedly lost control in a reckless maneuver. Miraculously, no one was injured in the multi-vehicle collision.
The crash occurred at approximately 7:10 PM on October 7, 2025, near milepost 269 on southbound I‑75, close to the Bruce B Downs Boulevard exit. Florida Highway Patrol reports that the vehicle — driven by an 18-year-old from Wesley Chapel — was traveling in the inside lane when the driver began operating recklessly, lost control, swerved into the outside center lane, and crashed into the path of a semi-truck driven by a 49-year-old from St. Cloud.
The BMW traveled underneath the trailer being towed by the semi, forcing the tractor-trailer to jackknife and come to a stop in the center median, with the BMW pinned beneath. The teen driver, two 18-year-old male passengers from Wesley Chapel, and the semi-truck driver all escaped without injury.
The crash caused significant traffic delays on southbound I‑75 as troopers and emergency crews worked to clear the wreckage. According to tampafp, the investigation remains ongoing.
