Semi hauling cattle tips over blocking road and spilling 120 cows, near Miles City

MILES CITY, Mont. — A semi-truck hauling cattle tipped over late Wednesday night on Garryowen Road near Miles City, blocking the roadway and prompting a large emergency response, according to local officials.
The crash happened just before midnight near the Eastern Montana Fairgrounds in Custer County. As of early Thursday morning, first responders remained on scene working to clear the wreckage and manage the cattle.

Crews confirmed that all cattle were safely offloaded and transported from the site, but a wrecker was still working to remove the overturned truck. Garryowen Road remained closed for several hours, and drivers were urged to seek alternate routes while cleanup continued.
Officials said the closure was expected to last through early morning due to the size of the vehicle and cargo.
According to KTVQ, this marks the second cattle truck crash near Miles City this month — a similar incident on October 5 involved another hauler that tipped at a roundabout off Interstate 94, spilling 120 cows.
