Investigators said 66-year-old Sharon Garris of Manheim was driving a Kia Seltos when she attempted to turn right onto Furnace Hills Pike and pulled into the path of an oncoming tractor-trailer. The truck driver swerved to avoid the Kia, struck an embankment, and overturned onto its passenger side.

The truck driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for evaluation, police said.

Garris was cited for failing to yield the right-of-way at a posted stop sign.

The crash caused property damage along the east side of Furnace Hills Pike and damaged a PPL guide wire. The roadway was closed for more than an hour while crews worked to clear the scene.

According to FOX43, witnesses reported that the Kia was stopped at the intersection before attempting to turn, triggering the truck’s evasive maneuver.
