Texas dump truck driver was cited and towed after sheriff finds 28 safety violations
HEMPSTEAD, Texas — A dump truck driver was cited and his vehicle towed after the Waller County Sheriff’s Office discovered 28 separate violations during a roadside inspection earlier this month.
The inspection was conducted by a Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit (CVEU) officer on October 16, 2025, in the Hempstead area. Deputies said the loaded dump truck had multiple major safety issues, several of which placed the vehicle Out of Service (OOS).

According to the WCSO, violations included three out of six brakes out of compliance, a cracked leaf spring held together with a chain, and the truck being 5,100 pounds overweight. The vehicle was immediately towed from the scene.

“Our CVE Unit is working daily on finding these unsafe heavy vehicles and placing them out of service, issuing citations to the drivers, and making the roadways of Waller County safer,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement on their official website.
