VISALIA, Calif. — A semi-truck driver was arrested for driving under the influence after multiple reports of reckless driving on Highway 99 Saturday, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

Officers received several calls about the truck swerving in and out of lanes near Visalia. CHP units located and stopped the semi shortly afterward.

During the traffic stop, officers discovered an open bottle of alcohol inside the cab. According to FOX 26 News, the driver was arrested for DUI and open container violations.

CHP thanked alert citizens whose quick reporting helped remove a dangerous driver from the road. “We appreciate the community’s vigilance—your calls help keep our roadways safe,” the agency said in a statement.
