Mexican Truck Driver Arrested After CBP Finds Nearly 950 Pounds of Liquid Meth Hidden Inside Fuel Tank of Semi Truck at California Border Crossing
OTAY MESA, CALIFORNIA — A Mexican truck driver was arrested on drug trafficking charges after federal agents discovered nearly 950 pounds of liquid methamphetamine concealed inside the fuel tank of a semi truck at a California border crossing.

The seizure took place at approximately 11:20 a.m. on March 2, 2026, at the Otay Mesa Import Cargo Facility in Otay Mesa, California. A U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer observed a white, crystalline substance atop the passenger-side fuel tank of a 2019 Kenworth T680 commercial tractor-trailer that had entered the facility. Further inspection revealed 29 buckets-worth of liquid concealed inside the fuel tank, with a total weight of 944.90 pounds of liquid methamphetamine.

The driver, Oscar Alonzo Cesena Camacho, 26, described as a Mexican citizen traveling on a business visa, was arrested and charged with importation of a controlled substance. He faces a maximum penalty of life in prison, a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years, and a fine of up to $10 million, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of California.
All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
