TERRELL COUNTY, Texas — Authorities say fatigue was to blame for a semi-truck rollover that shut down a section of Highway 90 east of Sanderson on Saturday.

According to Terrell County Sheriff Thaddeus Cleveland, the driver told investigators that he fell asleep at the wheel, causing the truck to overturn.

The rig was hauling approximately 40,000 pounds of avocados at the time of the crash. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

According to The Trucker, the roadway remained closed for several hours as crews worked to remove debris and upright the vehicle.

Sheriff Cleveland shared updates and photos from the scene, adding that the cause appeared to be driver fatigue rather than mechanical failure.
