WASHINGTON, D.C. — A 31-year-old Uzbekistan national wanted in his home country for terrorism-related offenses was arrested in Kansas while working as a commercial truck driver, federal officials announced Monday.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) identified the man as Akhror Bozorov, who was taken into custody on November 9. Bozorov is wanted in Uzbekistan under a 2022 arrest warrant accusing him of belonging to a terrorist organization, distributing online propaganda calling for jihad, and recruiting individuals to join extremist movements, according to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

Bozorov illegally entered the United States in February 2023 and was detained by U.S. Border Patrol before being released into the country. He later received work authorization in January 2024 and obtained a commercial driver’s license (CDL) in Pennsylvania, DHS said in its statement.

Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin criticized the approvals granted to Bozorov, stating that individuals wanted for terrorism should not be operating commercial vehicles on U.S. highways.

Bozorov was arrested in Kansas while employed as a commercial truck driver and is now in ICE custody as federal officials initiate removal proceedings, according to DHS.

Further details regarding his activities in the U.S. or potential threats have not been released. The case remains under federal investigation.
