Almost $17,000,000 worth of meth was discovered inside of a US-bound semi truck at the US-Mexico border late last week.

The drugs were discovered on August 20th at the Pharr International Bridge cargo facility in Pharr, Texas.

According to CBSDFW News, the semi truck arrived at the facility from Mexico and was referred for further inspection involving non-intrusive imaging equipment and screening by a canine team, and that’s when the meth was discovered.

The methamphetamine, all 1,202.62 pounds of it, were concealed within the trailer and immediately seized upon discovery.

“The seizure of this massive load of methamphetamine underscores not only the gravity of the narcotics threat we face on a daily basis but the resolve of our frontline CBP officers to utilize inspections experience and technology to keep our trade corridors secure,” said Port Director Carlos Rodriguez, Hidalgo/Pharr/Anzalduas Port of Entry.
