SYRACUSE, N.Y. — An Amazon-hauling tractor-trailer had its roof ripped completely off early Tuesday morning after crashing into the low-clearance Park Street bridge, according to the Syracuse Police Department.

Police responded around 4:03 a.m. and found the truck — registered to Trust Me Logistics LLC and headed toward Allentown, Pennsylvania — wedged under the CSX railroad overpass. The impact shredded the top of the trailer, leaving debris scattered along the roadway.

According to police spokesperson Kieran Coffey, inspectors determined the bridge did not suffer structural damage. No injuries were reported.

The Ohio-based driver received four citations, including:

  • Disobeying a traffic control device (two counts)

  • Exceeding clearance

  • Operating an over-length vehicle

The bridge clearance is 12 feet 2 inches, while standard tractor-trailers measure 13 to 14 feet, according to officials.

Eastbound Park Street was closed for more than two hours as crews worked the scene. The bridge has been struck repeatedly since the 2023 closure of the I-81 on-ramp to the Onondaga Lake Parkway, rerouting more trucks onto Park Street.

A new “clanker” warning system — designed to alert over-height trucks by striking hanging rubber buoys before they reach the bridge — is planned for installation in 2026.
