Tractor-Trailer Overturns and Spills Debris, Forcing I-95 Closure at Georgia–Florida Line
CAMDEN COUNTY, Ga. — A major early-morning crash involving an overturned tractor-trailer shut down all southbound lanes of Interstate 95 near Exit 1, causing heavy delays and forcing traffic diversions, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation.

The crash occurred around 2:24 a.m. near St. Marys Road, prompting emergency crews to immediately close the interstate. All southbound traffic was diverted while first responders worked to stabilize the scene and remove the overturned rig.

By 8:15 a.m., the Kingsland Police Department reported that debris was being pushed onto the ramp area, allowing southbound traffic to begin moving again. However, the Scrubby Bluff on-ramp to I-95 is expected to remain closed for a longer period due to extended cleanup operations.
Highway 17 became heavily congested as motorists attempted to bypass the shutdown, and drivers were urged to avoid the area if possible.
Two lanes reopened just before 8 a.m., with all lanes fully reopened later in the morning.
Southbound lanes had initially been expected to stay closed for several hours as responders cleared the overturned tractor-trailer.
