Semi Driver Dies After Crashing on Silliman Evans Bridge in Nashville
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A tractor-trailer driver died after a violent crash on the Silliman Evans Bridge early Tuesday morning, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.
The crash occurred shortly after midnight as the semi was traveling eastbound on Interstate 24 over the Cumberland River. For reasons not yet known, the driver lost control and crashed on the bridge.

Emergency crews with the Nashville Fire Department responded and found the driver trapped inside the cab. Firefighters extricated him and transported him to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased upon arrival, police said.

The MNPD Fatal Crash Team investigated the scene, and the eastbound I-24 ramp over the Cumberland River remained closed for several hours. Wreckage clearing and on-scene investigation concluded around 5:30 a.m., with all lanes reopening by 5:45 a.m.
According to WSMV, investigators are still working to determine what caused the driver to crash.
