PINE ISLAND, Minn. — Fire crews responded to a semi-truck fire along Highway 52 on Tuesday afternoon, quickly containing flames that broke out between the cab and trailer near mile marker 72.

The Pine Island Fire Department (PIFD) was dispatched around 12:15 p.m., and arriving crews located an active fire burning in the connection area between the tractor and trailer. Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames before they spread into the cab, officials said.

PIFD reported that the exact damage estimate is unknown, but firefighters believe the fire was likely sparked by a tire blowout on the cab.

Crews cleared the scene by 1 p.m. No injuries were reported.

The Minnesota State Patrol, Minnesota Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, and the Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
