One Person Killed in Fiery Crash Between Car and Tractor-Trailer on I-85 in Durham

DURHAM, North Carolina — One person was killed Sunday evening in a crash involving a car and a tractor-trailer on Interstate 85 South near Exit 176, according to Durham Police.

The collision occurred just before 6:15 p.m. under the Duke Street overpass, where officers arrived to find a fatality at the scene. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether the deceased individual was inside the car or the tractor-trailer.

Two southbound lanes of I-85 were closed for several hours as police conducted their investigation. The North Carolina Department of Transportation reported the roadway fully reopened by 3:32 a.m. Monday.
