Crews were first dispatched shortly after 1:00 a.m. for a reported outside fire. While units were en route, the call was upgraded to a structure fire, prompting additional resources from multiple agencies.

When the first engine arrived, firefighters encountered a grass fire spreading into multiple trailers. A secondary size-up confirmed five tractor-trailers—without tractors attached—were fully involved. Several nearby trailers were also threatened as flames advanced.

Because of the remote location and lack of hydrants, three tanker trucks were used to shuttle water to the attack engine. Firefighters from Cypress Pointe worked alongside crews from Crains Creek Fire Department, Southern Pines Fire Department, the North Carolina Forest Service, Moore County EMS, and the Moore County Sheriff’s Office.

One of the trailers was loaded with more than 1,800 bales of pine straw, creating intense fire conditions and prolonging suppression efforts. Crews spent more than five hours bringing the fire under control and continued monitoring the site throughout the day as the remaining material smoldered.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire has not been released, according to Cypress Pointe Fire/Rescue.
