Semi-Truck Cab Engulfed in Flames as Thick Black Smoke Rises Over Colorado Springs
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado — A semi-truck cab caught fire Sunday afternoon, sending a large plume of thick black smoke into the air near East Bijou Street and North Circle Drive, prompting an emergency response from police and firefighters.
According to the Colorado Springs Police Department, the incident occurred around 2:00 p.m. on December 14, when a sergeant with CSPD’s Sand Creek Division noticed heavy black smoke rising southwest of East Platte Avenue and South Academy Boulevard. The sergeant responded to the area and discovered a semi-truck cab fully engulfed in flames in the parking lot of a local tow company.

The Colorado Springs Fire Department quickly arrived on scene and extinguished the fire before it could spread to nearby buildings or other vehicles. Officials confirmed no injuries were reported, and surrounding property was not damaged.
The cause of the fire remains unknown, and the incident is still under review according to the Colorado Springs Police Department.
