Driver Partially Ejected and Killed After Tractor-Trailer Rolls Into Creek Off River Road in Fayetteville
FAYETTEVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA — A tractor-trailer driver was killed Monday afternoon after the truck ran off River Road in Cumberland County and rolled down an embankment into a creek, according to the North Carolina Highway Patrol and NCDOT.

Officials said the crash happened just after 12:30 p.m. on River Road near Middle River Loop in Fayetteville.
Troopers reported the tractor-trailer was traveling southbound on River Road near Middle Road when it went off the left side of the roadway and rolled down a 20-foot embankment into a creek.
The driver was partially ejected and pronounced dead at the scene, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol said.
NCDOT reported River Road was closed near the area following the crash and was expected to reopen at approximately 5:30 p.m. Monday.
No additional details were released Monday afternoon. The crash remains under investigation.
