BALTIMORE, MARYLAND — A repossession attempt turned violent in Baltimore after investigators said a man assaulted and robbed a tow truck driver who was trying to repossess a Tesla, and authorities are now searching for a suspect wanted on armed robbery charges, according to WBFF and the U.S. Marshals Service.

Investigators said the incident happened on Oct. 29, 2025, on West Saratoga Street in southwest Baltimore. Authorities identified the suspect as Lamont Jeremiah Jones, 45, who is now wanted on multiple charges, including armed robbery.

According to investigators, Jones confronted the tow truck driver during the repossession attempt and allegedly demanded the driver release the vehicle. When the driver refused, an argument followed, officials said.

Court documents and investigators said the driver called 911, and while still on the phone, Jones allegedly pulled the driver out of the truck and snatched the phone from his hand. Police said the driver reported Jones punched him in the face and displayed what appeared to be a black weapon in his waistband while threatening him before fleeing with the victim’s cellphone.

Officers responded and confirmed the Tesla was registered to Jones, investigators said. Authorities said the tow truck driver later positively identified Jones as the suspect, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

The U.S. Marshals Service said it has joined the search and warned Jones should be considered armed and dangerous. Officials said Jones is described as approximately 5’9” and 230 pounds, and they urged anyone with information to contact law enforcement.
