WESTON, IOWA — A semi-truck tipped over on Interstate 80 in western Iowa as winter weather and strong winds moved through the area, killing the driver, according to the Iowa State Patrol.
The crash happened on I-80 westbound at mile marker 12, south of Weston, officials said.

According to a state patrol crash report, the semi was struck by strong winds, causing the driver to lose control and leave the roadway. Investigators said the driver attempted to regain control, but the truck tipped onto its driver’s side into the median and struck a cable barrier.
The driver was identified as 56-year-old Mark Hayden, who was pronounced dead, officials said.
The crash remains under investigation.
