Snowy Roads Blamed for Multiple Semi Crashes in Summit and Lake Counties as Delays Build on I-76 and I-90
NORTHEAST OHIO — Several semi-truck crashes snarled traffic across the region Tuesday as wintry weather, ongoing snowfall, and cold temperatures created hazardous road conditions in Summit and Lake counties, officials said.

In Summit County, video obtained from the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) appears to show two separate semi-truck crashes along I-76 West. The footage shows a semi already lodged in the guardrail, indicating an earlier crash in the area, before capturing a second semi-truck crashing through the same guardrail at around 12:05 p.m.

As of 1:32 p.m., ODOT’s traffic map OHGO showed the right lane of I-76 West blocked beyond County Road 18, just before the Tallmadge–Mogadore exit. A 3News photographer also captured video of the aftermath at the scene.

In Lake County, the City of Mentor reported that I-90 eastbound was closed at Center Street due to multiple tractor-trailer crashes. Officials said the highway reopened at 1:42 p.m. Drone footage shared with 3News showed significant backups and the crash scene in the area.
Authorities continued urging motorists to use caution and expect delays as winter conditions persist.
