LAS VEGAS, NEVADA — More than a dozen cattle died after a semi-truck hauling livestock overturned overnight on a major interchange in Las Vegas known as the Spaghetti Bowl, according to Nevada Highway Patrol.

Troopers responded around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday to a rollover on the I-15 south to I-11 south transition ramp. Police say the semi was carrying 28 cattle when it rolled over. The truck driver was not injured and has been speaking with investigators.

Crews were able to get the truck upright at the scene. The Nevada Department of Agriculture also responded to offload the remaining cattle and perform health checks, officials said. A department spokesperson confirmed 16 of the 28 cattle died in the crash.

State police reported the I-15 south to I-11 south transition ramp reopened at 9:45 a.m. Authorities say Nevada State Police and the Department of Agriculture are expected to release additional information as the investigation continues.
