NORTHLAKE/JUSTIN, TEXAS — An 18-wheeler spilled about 40,000 pounds of bottles Wednesday evening along a curvy stretch of FM 407 between Northlake and Justin, forcing a full roadway closure for roughly three hours as crews worked a complex recovery operation.

Officials said no injuries were reported, but the weight of the truck and load made the cleanup time-consuming. Denton County Emergency Services District No. 1 and 2 responded to the scene on the roadway’s well-known “s-curves,” working alongside law enforcement and towing partners to clear debris and reopen the road.

To upright the truck and safely remove it from the roadway, crews used a heavy-duty rotator to pull the trailer and cab back into position.

“We appreciate the teamwork from our fire crews, law enforcement and towing and recovery partners who worked together to get the road reopened as quickly and safely as possible,” Denton County ESD No. 1 and 2 said in a social media post.

The incident happened in an area currently tied to a Texas Department of Transportation project aimed at widening FM 407 from Northlake to the eastern edge of Argyle into a six-lane divided road. The project also plans to redirect FM 407 around Justin’s Old Town to reduce congestion and improve safety along the roadway’s “s-curves.”
