ALMA, ARKANSAS — Arkansas Highway Police (AHP) troopers recently stopped an oversized commercial vehicle after learning the driver was hauling heavy equipment without the required permit.

According to AHP, a trooper conducted the stop on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, along Highway 64 in Alma. During the inspection, the trooper determined the driver did not have a valid permit for the load’s weight and width.

AHP said the load scaled at 128,880 pounds, far exceeding the 80,000-pound legal limit for travel without a permit. Troopers also found the load was overwidth, measuring 11 feet 2 inches, compared to the 8 feet 6 inches maximum legal width without a permit.

Troopers did not release details on any citations or enforcement action tied to the stop.
