DAWSON COUNTY, NEBRASKA — A California-based truck driver was arrested and charged after a routine commercial vehicle inspection on Interstate 80 led to the discovery of 242 pounds of cocaine concealed in the sleeper berth of his semi truck, along with an open alcohol container and a fictitious license plate.

On Tuesday, February 24, 2026, a Nebraska State Patrol Carrier Enforcement trooper conducted a commercial vehicle inspection on a semi tractor-trailer near mile marker 254 on I-80. During the inspection, the trooper became suspicious of criminal activity. An NSP canine unit was deployed and alerted to the presence of a controlled substance inside the cab of the vehicle.

A search of the cab revealed 242 pounds of suspected cocaine concealed underneath the bed in the sleeper berth area. The driver, Arwinderjit Singh, 30, of Manteca, California, was subsequently arrested and booked into the Dawson County Jail.

Singh faces charges of possession of cocaine, possession with intent to deliver, possession of an open alcohol container, and displaying a fictitious license plate.

All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
