CHP Issues 352 Commercial Citations, Takes 40 Trucks Out of Service During Major I-15 Commercial Strike Force Operation Stretching From San Diego to Nevada State Line

CALIFORNIA — Multiple divisions of the California Highway Patrol partnered for a large-scale Commercial Strike Force operation along Interstate 15 on February 26, 2026, resulting in 352 commercial citations, 40 vehicles placed out of service, and 4 vehicles impounded across a corridor stretching from San Diego to the Nevada state line.

The operation was designed to enhance commercial vehicle safety and protect the motoring public along one of California's most heavily traveled freight corridors. A total of 245 vehicle inspections were conducted, including 2 HAZMAT inspections. Eighteen drivers and 40 vehicles were placed out of service.

Driver and carrier violations included 20 driver license violations, 24 registration violations, 27 operating authority violations, and 39 hours-of-service and logbook violations. Citations issued broke down as follows: 270 mechanical violations, 107 unsafe speed violations, 77 out-of-lane violations, 48 additional moving violations, 23 non-emergency stop violations, and 6 cell phone violations. In total, 352 commercial citations and 56 commercial warnings were issued, along with 43 citations and 11 verbal warnings to non-commercial vehicle operators.

Participating CHP divisions included San Diego, Oceanside, Temecula, Riverside, Rancho Cucamonga, San Bernardino, Victorville, Barstow, and Mountain Pass.

"The teamwork and commitment demonstrated by officers across both Divisions directly contributed to measurable enforcement results and improved roadway safety along one of California's most heavily traveled freight corridors. Safety is a shared responsibility. The California Highway Patrol remains committed to proactive service through enforcement and education to keep California's highways secure for everyone," CHP said.
