FedEx Tractor-Trailer Pulling Double Trailers Leaves I-70 and Falls Into Creek in Colorado, Injuring Both Occupants

CLEAR CREEK COUNTY, COLORADO — A FedEx tractor-trailer pulling double trailers went off the roadway on eastbound Interstate 70 Wednesday morning and plunged into a creek below, injuring both occupants and prompting a multi-unit emergency response from the Clear Creek Fire Authority.

The incident occurred at approximately 8:20 a.m. on March 5, 2026, at mile marker 237 on I-70 eastbound, just before the St. Mary's/Fall River Road exit. Images from the scene show the FedEx double-trailer rig lying on its side in the creek, with the cab severely crushed. Clear Creek Fire Authority units responded to the scene, with responders seen working at the water's edge alongside the wreckage. Both the driver and a passenger were out of the vehicle and being treated for non-life-threatening injuries at the time of the report.

Stanley Road (County Road 312) was closed in both directions at Fall River on the east side and at Liquid Descent rafting company on the west side. The right lane of eastbound I-70 was also closed at mile marker 237.
