IOWA — Iowa State Patrol troopers are urging commercial drivers to inspect their equipment after a semi-truck was found traveling on I-80/35 for approximately eight miles with two missing tires and a seized set of dual tires on the trailer.

On Monday, March 16, 2026, the Iowa State Patrol Commercial Motor Vehicle Unit inspected the commercial truck along I-80/35 and discovered the significant tire defects. The driver had been unaware of the dangerous condition for the entire eight miles traveled.

"This truck was inspected this morning on I-80/35. The driver drove for approximately eight miles unaware two tires were missing and the last set of duals on the trailer were seized," the Iowa State Patrol said. Troopers noted that road conditions added to the danger, as Iowa was still recovering from a blizzard the previous day. "Roads are still slick as we recover from the blizzard yesterday. If you drive, please ensure your equipment is up to the task!" troopers said.

All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
