NORTH CHARLESTON, SOUTH CAROLINA — A 27-year-old tow truck driver from Gaston was arrested Wednesday afternoon after allegedly striking a vehicle with a PIT-style maneuver on a public road during a repossession attempt and then getting out and pointing a firearm at the vehicle's owner.

North Charleston Police Department's Central Evenings Team 1 responded at approximately 3:45 p.m. to the 5600 block of Dorchester Road. Officers learned the repossession agent involved was armed, secured the firearm, and detained the suspect.

The suspect, identified as Lydarius Eunique Wise, is charged with second-degree assault and battery and pointing and presenting a firearm.

What Happened

According to witness statements and video evidence reviewed by investigators, Wise struck the victim's vehicle prior to the repossession attempt in a maneuver similar to a PIT maneuver — a tactic typically used by law enforcement that applies lateral force to the rear quarter panel of another vehicle to force it into a sudden spin. This occurred while Wise was following the victim's vehicle on a public roadway.

The victim continued driving and eventually stopped at a business on Dorchester Road. Wise then exited his vehicle, approached the victim, and pointed a firearm at them. Officers reported that Wise admitted he had the firearm in his hand while approaching the victim's vehicle.

Wise was transported to the Al Cannon Detention Center.
