The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) may have finished with the International Roadcheck inspection effort, but law enforcement will be back at it in a matter of weeks.
This year, Roadcheck took place May 17 — 19 in the U.S., Mexico, and Canada. The 72 hour event is the largest targeted enforcement program on commercial motor vehicles in the world, with nearly 15 trucks or buses inspected, on average, every minute across North America.
But inspection season isn’t over — there are two major CVSA inspection and enforcement efforts on the horizon — see below for the dates you need to know.
- Operation Safe Driver Week is scheduled for July 10 — 16, 2022. During this enforcement effort, officers throughout North America are on the lookout for commercial motor vehicle drivers and passenger vehicle drivers engaging in risky driving behaviors. Law enforcement will be paying special attention to speeding violations during this time.
- Brake Safety Week is scheduled for August 21 — 27, 2022. During this campaign, commercial motor vehicle inspectors conduct brake system inspections on large trucks and buses throughout North America to identify brake-system violations.
The CVSA also held an unannounced one-day brake safety enforcement initiative on April 27.
