A dump truck driver was killed in Illinois on Monday morning after colliding with a train at a railroad crossing on a private road.

The accident happened on May 23rd in Hainesville, Illinois just before 7 a.m.

According to ABC 7 News, the dump truck was traveling on a small, private road that crosses the train tracks along Route 120 just west of Route 134 when it was struck by the train. The collision partially derailed the passenger train and killed the driver of the dump truck.

The crash occurred on a small, private road, so the tracks were not marked by gates or lights. It is not clear why the truck was on the tracks at the time of the incident. Around 40 passengers were on the train at the time of the wreck, but only one was injured in the crash. Their injuries are not considered to be life threatening.

The Metra Milwaukee District North Line train will only be operating from Grayslake and Union Station in Chicago until further notice. Crews are still investigating the incident.
