A man was killed early on Friday morning while checking his car for damage after a deer strike, officials say.
The incident happened on June 17th just after 3 a.m. in Frederick, Maryland.
According to Fox 5, 33-year-old Jordan Scott Maddocks was driving along Interstate 70 westbound just before MD Route 17 when he struck a deer. Maddocks then pulled over and exited his vehicle to check on the damage to his car, and that’s when he was struck by an oncoming tractor trailer.
Maddocks died at the scene. The truck driver, as well as the three passengers in the car, were not hurt.
I-70 westbound was closed for around three hours as crews investigated the incident. The roadway has since been reopened. No further information has been released.
