Unpermitted Oversize Farm Equipment Load Gets Stuck in Oklahoma Construction Zone

A semi-truck hauling an unpermitted oversized piece of farm equipment became stuck in a construction zone near Oklahoma City on Wednesday morning, March 5.
According to Fox 25, the truck was traveling westbound on Interstate 240 when it attempted to pass through a construction zone beneath the Interstate 40 overpass. Due to the narrow temporary barrier walls, the large farm equipment became wedged, blocking the roadway.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) responded to the scene and determined that the oversize load did not require a standard oversize permit since it was hauling farm equipment. However, the truck was missing a legally required overweight permit and was traveling without the necessary front and rear escorts.
Crews were able to move the temporary barriers and free the truck and its 14-foot-wide load.
“Had the company applied for a free farm oversized permit, they would have received a different, approved route and could have avoided this situation,” OHP stated.
Authorities have not confirmed if the truck driver received any citations. No further information has been released.
