BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. — Wild dashcam footage has surfaced showing the moment a tractor-trailer erupted into flames during a violent rollover crash on Florida’s Turnpike near Sunrise Boulevard.

The crash occurred Wednesday afternoon and brought rush-hour traffic to a standstill as the truck slammed into the median, overturned onto the opposite side of the highway, and burst into flames. The impact sent debris flying into the path of multiple vehicles traveling nearby.

David Platt, the driver who recorded the dramatic video, said the experience was terrifying and unforgettable.

“I was just praying to God that I don’t get hit with this and that the cab doesn’t come flying over into southbound lanes,” Platt recalled. “All of a sudden I see this truck explode through the barrier, everywhere, everyone veering out of the way, and next thing I know I see one car trapped between the cab and the wall."

Despite the danger, Platt immediately pulled over and ran toward the burning wreck to help.

Authorities have not yet released details on injuries or the cause of the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
