The incident occurred on the afternoon of August 11 near Hobart, Indiana, according to a news release from ISP’s Lowell District.

Troopers say that at 4:30 p.m., they received a call from a car salesman trapped inside a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on I-80/94 near mile marker 10.

The man reported that he was being held in against his will in. a 2009 Kia Borrego by a suspect during a test drive that started at the Bosco Family Motors dealership in Hobart.

While the salesman was still on the phone with 911 dispatchers, the Kia rear-ended a semi truck at a high rate of speed.

The Kia caught fire after the crash.

The salesman was partially trapped inside the Kia but was later pulled to safety by Good Samaritans.

The driver of the Kia, later identified as LaDarien D. Gregory, 29, was spotted walking away from the crash site.

The salesman was taken to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

Gregory was also taken to the hospital and later released into police custody.
