Semi Truck Hauling Bulldozer Knocks Combine Off Road in Botched Rural Pass

A shocking incident on a narrow rural road has raised serious concerns about safety practices in wide-load convoys, after a semi truck hauling construction equipment struck a combine harvester during a failed passing attempt.

The semi, reportedly carrying a D11 CAT bulldozer, was caught on video traveling along a road estimated to be only 12 feet wide when it encountered a slow-moving John Deere X9 combine harvester ahead. Instead of stopping or coordinating a safe solution, the truck—along with what appeared to be a push truck and a pilot car—continued forward in an attempt to pass the large farm vehicle.

As the video shows, the decision proved disastrous. The massive truck clipped the side of the combine, pushing it off the road and into a ditch. The footage, shared widely online, highlights the moment the harvester was forced from the pavement with significant force, underscoring the recklessness of the maneuver.

Commenters online expressed disbelief at the lapse in judgment. “Bad trucking and even worse piloting, where were the piloting trucks in that situation?” one viewer wrote. Another added, “Both the spotter and the truck driver failed. Can’t even imagine being tossed around like that in a combine—like shaking a fishbowl with a goldfish in it.”

There is no information yet on whether the combine operator was injured or if any disciplinary action has been taken against the trucking personnel involved. The incident has reignited conversations around safety protocols for oversized loads on rural roads, particularly regarding convoy communication and pilot car responsibilities.
