Driver injured after SUV slips off car carrier at Rhode Island port
NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. — A driver was injured Friday morning when an SUV partially slipped off a car carrier at the Port of Davisville in North Kingstown, authorities said.
According to North Kingstown Fire Battalion Chief Matthew Kennett, the SUV was on the upper deck of the carrier when its rear end slid over the edge, leaving the back tires and trunk hanging down and striking the ground.
The incident occurred at North Atlantic Distribution (NORAD), a company that manages vehicle imports at the port. Officials have not confirmed whether the vehicle was being loaded or unloaded at the time.

According to WPRI News, fire crews quickly stabilized the vehicle and worked for about 15 minutes to free the driver. The victim was transported to Rhode Island Hospital with injuries believed to be minor.
