AUBURN, Washington — The commercial truck driver accused of causing a fatal three-vehicle crash on State Route 167 has been released from the King County Correctional Facility after posting a $100,000 bond, according to VINE custody records.

Kamalpreet Singh, 25, of Elk Grove, California, was arrested Thursday morning on suspicion of vehicular homicide after state troopers said he failed to brake in slowing traffic on northbound SR 167 near SR 18, slamming into a stopped blue Mazda 3 and pushing it under a white 2016 Peterbilt truck.

The driver of the Mazda — 29-year-old Robert B. Pearson of Bonney Lake, a husband and father of two — was killed at the scene.

Singh was booked on Dec. 11 but released at 11:15 p.m. on Dec. 12, jail records show.

Victim’s Sister: “He should still be here”

After learning Singh had posted bond, Pearson’s sister wrote publicly:

“My brother was the one killed. Leaving behind his wife and two young boys ages 4 and 1. They are absolutely suing the company… He was an amazing, loving person who should still be here.”

Peterbilt Driver’s Testimony

According to the Washington State Patrol’s first-appearance report, the Peterbilt driver told investigators he was fully stopped in traffic when he felt a single, violent impact from behind — consistent with being struck by a large commercial vehicle with no braking or evasive action.

Troopers also noted irregularities in Singh’s electronic logbook, including a false co-driver entry and data suggesting the log system may have been altered or disconnected.

A felony charging decision is still pending as investigators continue reviewing data and seized devices according to the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
