PRIMM, NEVADA — A semi-trailer fire briefly blocked southbound Interstate 15 near the Nevada-California state line early Tuesday before traffic was reduced to a single-file squeeze past the scene near Primm, according to Nevada State Police and local reports.

Troopers said the fire was reported around 4:30 a.m. on I-15 southbound near mile marker 5, roughly five miles north of Primm. Crews responded to the shoulder area, and authorities said the southbound lanes were fully blocked for a short time before the left shoulder was opened to allow vehicles through.

Nevada State Police said the semi-truck driver noticed brake issues before a small fire started near the back of the trailer. Officials said the driver pulled onto the shoulder and attempted to extinguish the fire with an extinguisher, but was unsuccessful.

Police said the driver then unhooked the tractor and moved away from the trailer. The trailer became fully engulfed a short time later.

Fire officials confirmed no injuries were reported.

Authorities said lane restrictions were expected to remain in place for several hours as crews handled cleanup, and drivers were advised to expect delays.
